Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. As a young girl, she relocated from London to Oxfordshire where she studied at the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor at age six. For several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. Through a school play as well as a Stagecoach production, Emma took as the lead role at age 10 and performed. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight straight auditions. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The film set records in terms of opening day and weekend revenues, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially those who were young. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her outstanding performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
